It's hard to believe that June is almost over! Where has it gone?

We had a very nice week-end. We ended up going to our usual park in Tennessee. We couldn't get a room at the lodge so weren't right on the water, but we were able to sit on the lodge veranda and rock and watch the boats. We also had a long conversation with a little boy who was celebrating his 11th birthday (although it wasn't his birthday until Sunday, but since that was Father's Day they were celebrating early).

The week was extremely hot so we stayed in as much as possible. McKenna spent the night Monday as Brianna had an early dr. appointment in Memphis. She has either torn cartilage or a torn meniscus muscle in her knee. They are hoping that physical therapy will do the trick. If it doesn't then it's MRIs and probably surgery which will really hinder her softball playing.

We did go to Jonesboro Thursday. Bill needed some new dress shoes and we needed a few computer things. We stopped at IHOP for lunch and then came on home.

Yesterday we finally got some relief from the heat with rain and it's supposed to be cooler this next week. It's hard to believe that next week-end will be July 4th. We don't have any plans, and I don't think we will be making any. We probably won't even try to watch the fireworks. The mosquitos are too bad and there are too many crazy people out.

We don't have any new neighbors yet, but the house now has a For Rent sign in the yard. I think he's asking too much for it, considering the neighborhood. He wants more than what our house payment was and it's not that great a house! But, who am I to know about fair market values of real estate?

So, that's our weekly synopsis, nothing major but a little more excitement than the last couple of weeks. Hope everyone has a good week-end and week ahead!

It's a beautiful morning after TS Bill blew through. Yesterday was a dreary rainy day, with lovely wind. I told Bill that I wished we were back in Florida with our screened patio so that I could sit outside while it was raining. But, I made do with having the door and windows open. We didn't even turn the air on until late, after I got supper cooked.

We again had a boring week. We did get the oil changed in my car so that got us out of the house for a few hours. Stopped in Dyersburg on the way home for lunch. The weather was nice so it was a good day for a drive. Came home through the country (I am my mother's daughter).

Bill has been talking a lot lately about moving. He said he doesn't feel safe here anymore and wants to leave. I, on the other hand, still feel perfectly safe. But, I'm of the mind that I'm not going to let thugs drive me out of my home, and if something is going to happen, it will happen anyway. We had kicked around the idea of buying something in Florida like so many retirees do. Since he has to be at Mayo in November and May we would just be able to stay during that 6 months. But, I also don't want to leave the house empty for those 6 months. We would have a lot of work to do to get the house ready to sell since we've not finished the remodel yet, so this is not something that would happen soon. And, since Wednesday, Bill hasn't said a single word about moving, so it might just have been something that got stuck in his head for a few days. That's one effect the stroke had. Sometimes it's very nerve racking and hard to deal with. Other times it's easy to brush off and deal with.

We may hop in the car today and go somewhere for the rest of the week-end. I told Bill I may just tell him to grab some undies and his shaving kit, put his seatbelt on and enjoy the ride! We've talked about heading south a little ways, or going to the lake in Tennessee and see if we can get a room, or who knows where. That's one advantage of being retired and financially comfortable.

I hope everyone who was in the path of the storm is well and had very little damage. I also hope that all the fathers have a good day tomorrow with lots of love from your family.

Good Morning everyone! I hope everyone has had a good week, I know we have.

It's been another boring, normal week. My daughter got home from South America with no problems other than a flight delay in Atlanta, but what else is new?

My foot has finally started to feel better. My big toe is still the sorest and it finally bruised in a couple of places so I had really bruised it deeply. But, I can put normal pressure on it most of the time. Usually afternoon and evening are the times it hurts, but that's because I've been on it all day.

Bill did some walking every day and a couple of days he walked twice again. I have noticed we're getting into a really bad rut of just sitting and staring at the TV, watching the same reruns over and over. So, I've got to start finding things for us to do during the day.

The best news of the week is that our troublemaking neighbors have moved! And, I think they did it mostly under cover of darkness to avoid the landlord. I would notice that there was nothing piled at the curb when we would go to bed but there would be a large pile of broken furniture and toys there in the morning. There also haven't been any lights on at all, whether the power was just turned off or what I don't know. But the bathroom light was usually left on all night. If the condition of the mini-blinds is any indication, the house will not be in the best shape! Hopefully they've moved to a neighborhood that isn't as ours normally is. And, while it may seem bad to be happy that someone may have been forced to move (by the complaints of noise and police presence), we're glad to get our neighborhood back.

Our friend Ron, who lives behind us and down a house, is having an in-ground pool broken up and filled in. I'm not really sure the people he hired know what they are doing. But, the process is really disturbing Bill. There is a utility access way that separates the house on the different blocks and they have, of course, been using that to bring in their equipment. They have chewed it up behind Ron's and even took down part of his privacy fence. I don't know why but this has really upset Bill. The damage is not at our backyard so we don't have to look at, but he's just beside himself about it. That's one of the drawbacks from the stroke, when he gets on a subject he stays with it. It's like a computer that gets into an endless loop. If only he could get rebooted like the computer!

So, that's our week. It's been dry but hot and more humid as the week has continued. Cool enough in the mornings to turn the air off and open the doors. Today is cloudy and it's sprinkling now, with heavier rain forecast for later today. So, I'd better get my shoes on and get to the grocery store before the main event starts. Have a great week-end!

Hooray! An absolutely boring week! No burglaries nearby, no police chases, no fighting from the neighbors, nothing! There has been some loud music, but that's normal for the warm weather.

About the only thing of any importance was that I tried to break my foot! I got it wrapped in the cable for my laptop and tripped, not once but twice. The 2nd time I came down wrong. I knew it hurt when I did it, but didn't think much about it. But, it hurt all night and still hurts. All of my toes hurt and the foot itself to about the instep, top and bottom. There was only minimal swelling and no bruising so I think I just sprained it good. The only place that really hurts now is my big toe, and most of the time it's only at night after being on it all day.

Bill's done his usual walking and had no medical issues, just a normal week. We did see Brianna and McKenna some while their mom has been gone. She's flying home today and should be about halfway to Atlanta. From all reports they've had a great time, but they were all ready to come home!

So, from long posts about exciting things happening, to completely boring days, that's been our week...and I like it! Have a great week-end everybody!
