The rains have arrived! It's going to be a wonderful drive this morning. Memphis drivers are terrible on good days, let alone on rainy ones.
Bill had a so-so day yesterday. He was still hurting but not quite as badly. His tremors have also gotten worse so they are still running the Merrem over an hour instead of 30 minutes. It hasn't helped much and he's getting pretty disheartened about it. I'm taking his travel cup today hoping that it will be easier for him to drink anything without having to hold it with both hands. He also had a difficult eating his lunch since it was spaghetti. He couldn't get it to stay on the fork no matter what we tried.
He did do some sitting exercises with physical therapy, although he didn't want to walk. He's still very weak when standing. But, after he used his commode yesterday afternoon and got back into his chair his O2 had only dropped to 81, which is an improvement as it was dropping into the mid 70s.
I didn't see any drs. yesterday and had to leave a little early to try to beat the weather. He was just getting ready to have the dressing changed on his picc line when I left. I did talk to him last night but he didn't say if any drs. had come in, or if he did I don't remember this morning.
I still don't know what the plan is concerning the oxygen dropping so low when he moves, if there is even a plan in the works that can be done. Since he is still so weak, there is no talk of discharge yet. I think from a cardiology viewpoint he could go as his heart is fine. From Infectious Disease, we're on the right track, and pulmonology is silent for the most part. It just depends which dr. is on that day. Dr. Fox says nothing much at all and can be rather condescending, but Dr. Monday and Dr. Williams wo a little more explaining.
I have cancelled all of our Mayo appointments and hotel reservations. Even if he were discharged today, there is no way he could leave Sunday and face a 2 day drive. Since they are aware of the situation, the appointments can be rescheduled if necessary.
That's about it, maybe something will happen today. Hopefully the medicine will be completely out of his body and he'll not be hurting as badly when I get there. I think I may insist that today he shave and clean up a little. That might make him feel better. At least he has an electric razor with him so he won't cut himself shaving as shaky as he is. I'll let you know tomorrow!
