He's had a better afternoon than morning. He is off the vent and is breathing deeply on his own. It was rough going for a bit, but has finally evened out with his breathing.
His potassium has decreased just a little bit, so they are going to repeat the treatment. His poor behind is raw, even with the barrier cream from all of the liquid that is expelled from this treatment. But I guess it's the easiest way to pull potassium. His food is also getting changed so maybe that will help. He's lost 16 pounds from the day he was admitted, and while that seems like a lot, he was admitted Nov. 15. So, it hasn't been a rapid weight loss, but he was so thin to start with that any loss is a lot.
So, just a little update for now. I haven't seen any other drs. except for Dr. Threlkeld this morning. He's been taken off antibiotics, but can be put back on depending on what the results are of the cultures that were taken. He doesn't want anything to get a foothold again. Dr. Edwards should be in sometime this afternoon. It was about 4 when I talked to him yesterday so I'm thinking that's about when it will be. I may have time for a little snooze before this medicine kicks in again and Bill starts going again.
May have more later, and then again it may wait until tomorrow. It's really working well for me doing it during the day here...as long as the internet will cooperate!
